REIMAGINE APPALACHIA RESPONDS TO APPALACHIAN REGIONAL COMMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT OF GREEN MANUFACTURING ARISE GRANTS
APPALACHIA – In response to today’s announcement that the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded two new grants totaling over $14.5 million to boost sustainable manufacturing and workforce development through its Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE) funding opportunity, ReImagine Appalachia release the following statement:
“These new ARISE grants, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, demonstrate a commitment to growing clean and efficient manufacturing in the Appalachian region,” said Steve Herzenberg, Co-Director of ReImagine Appalachia. “By supporting small to medium manufacturers and providing training and resources, we can drive economic transformation, create in-demand jobs, and build a brighter future for Appalachian communities.”
“ReImagine Appalachia, in partnership with Community Catalyst and the Appalachian manufacturing network it is building, aims to foster community engagement, explore innovative approaches to promote environmentally friendly manufacturing practices, prioritize job quality and workforce diversification, and explore the potential for Appalachia to become a hub for sustainable products in the future,” said Amanda Woodrum, Co-Director of ReImagine Appalachia. “This endeavor exemplifies exactly the kind of collaboration in the region that Reimagine Appalachia hopes to foster.”
