We often get asked to sum up our work in a paragraph, three sentences, or even three words. On this page, we have provided everything you need to talk about our mission, focus areas, and projects. We have also included branding for all media-related needs!
Three word description:
ReImagine Appalachia is an economic policy coalition.
One sentence:
ReImagine Appalachia is a diverse coalition that promotes a shared vision for a 21st Century economy that is good for communities, workers and the land.
One paragraph:
ReImagine Appalachia is a coalition that was founded in 2020 out of a broad recognition that the economy has not been working for most people and places in the Ohio River Valley. We work with a diverse array of local partners, elected officials and labor groups with the goal of finding common ground across diverse stakeholder groups, to create a more unified voice and the collective leverage needed to move towards a more sustainable, equitable economy that is good for workers, communities and the land.
What we do and how we do it:
We are guided by deep and constant outreach to communities and key partners from fields including labor, climate and climate resiliency, agriculture, manufacturing, and faith, working in and from local government, community-based organizations, sustainable development groups, and more.
We do our work in three main buckets:
- Communications & Storytelling – both traditional & social media (including op-eds, press releases, engagement with partners via social platforms, etc.)
- Participatory Research – ensuring all of our stakeholders are providing input – we do this through hosting listening sessions and utilizing open-comment Google Docs at the beginning of research projects.
- Coalition Building & Convening – We host several virtual events monthly including webinars and summits. We also have meetings that occur weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly on our various priorities/initiatives. Each of our teams and events include our diverse stakeholders which ranges from local government officials to labor leaders to environmental advocates, federal agencies, arts & culture organizations, etc.
We have several initiatives and ongoing teams, here they are!
