Learn more about how UE workers are taking a stand for all of us!
On July 26, UE President Carl Rosen testified at a Senate subcommittee hearing about the UE Green Locomotive Project. A new study, conducted by ReImagine Appalachia and the Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, details the thousands of new, high-quality jobs that can be created through manufacturing green locomotives at Wabtec’s Erie facility where the members of UE Locals 506 and 618 work.
The Green Locomotive Project will create good union jobs, address climate change, and clean up pollution in the low-income communities and communities of color which bear the brunt of pollution from rail yards. It will bring workers and their unions together with rail yard communities and environmental justice organizations to demand a future of good union jobs, livable communities, and a sustainable planet.
UE leaders shared more about Carl Rosen’s testimony on July 29 in Erie to the groups and individuals that come to walk the picket line with workers.
