Wednesday, April 30th at 12:30 pm ET via Zoom – Have you heard of the Green Bank for Rural America? Backed by a landmark, federal $500 million award, the Green Bank is making investments that will help rural communities successfully join the new energy economy by creating good jobs, helping families build wealth and save money, and building healthier communities in the process.
Through awards to eligible Community Lenders, the Green Bank will offer financing opportunities in new construction and development, renewable energy, electric transportation, and business financing, as well as Technical Assistance to help communities access this assistance.
The WV Community Development Hub (“The Hub”) is an organization based in West Virginia selected to lead the Green Bank’s technical assistance work in the area of Community Engagement. The Hub is launching a unique program to support communities interested in taking advantage of the financing opportunities offered through the Green Bank for Rural America. The program – called “Supporting Prosperity and Resilience in Rural Communities” (SPARRC) – will support a cohort of 9 community teams in developing an economic resilience plan and projects eligible for financing through the Green Bank for Rural America. The SPARRC application will open April 10 for eligible communities.
Please note: in Cohort 1, the West Virginia Community Development Hub is recruiting communities in EPA Regions 3 and 4. Eligible communities in other EPA regions are encouraged to apply in Cohorts 2 and 3.
Also note: This funding is coming from the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which is being impacted by various changes in the current federal administration. That being said, the team at the Green Bank for Rural America has assessed the funding available and is confidently moving our programming forward.
Speaker: Emma Byrne, Director of Impact at the WV Community Development Hub
