July 10 at noon ET
Join us Thursday, July 10 at 1 pm ET – as we release new research on how Appalachia can leverage the excitement around increased adoption of green building rating systems to transform the Ohio River Valley into a leader in the green building supply chain. This event will be hosted virtually via zoom.
LEED and other green building certifications are becoming more commonplace as sustainable building is recognized as a priority for reducing carbon emissions. Discover the opportunities that exist for Appalachian building material manufacturers to take advantage of the preference for locally sourced supplies within green building rating systems. Explore the ins and outs of green building certifications such as LEED, how Appalachia can meet the rising demand for green building products, and which materials will be most advantageous to produce in the region.
Following a presentation on the research, there will be time for a discussion and a chance to ask any questions. Our goal is to create resources to support community leaders working to transform Appalachia into a manufacturing hub for the new clean economy.

This event is part of our Summer 2025 Manufacturing Series, an ongoing series of events sharing new research on opportunities within Appalachia’s manufacturing sector, from growing feedstocks to producing final products. This series of listening sessions will explore the specific opportunities to leverage the region’s historical assets for the new energy economy and create a hub for sustainable manufacturing. Appalachians should have a say in the work to keep opportunities in the region and support the creation of a 21st century economy that’s good for workers, communities, and the environment.
