APPALACHIA — ReImagine Appalachia will host a virtual event on Thursday, June 26th at noon to release new research findings on how the Ohio River Valley can become a leader in the green building supply chain. The research explores how Appalachia can leverage the growing adoption of green building rating systems to create manufacturing opportunities and jobs in the region.
As demand for LEED-certified and other green buildings increases, there is a growing preference for locally sourced building materials. This presents a significant economic opportunity for Appalachian communities to revitalize manufacturing while contributing to sustainability goals.
The event will include a presentation on the research findings followed by a Q&A session. Topics will cover:
- Understanding green building certifications such as LEED
- Identifying which green building materials would be most advantageous to produce in Appalachia
- Leveraging the region’s existing manufacturing infrastructure for new opportunities
- Creating good jobs while supporting environmental sustainability
This event is part of ReImagine Appalachia’s Summer 2025 Manufacturing Series, which explores opportunities to transform the region into a manufacturing hub for the new clean economy.
