APPALACHIA – August 13, at noon ET via Zoom, ReImagine Appalachia will host Pennsylvania District Representative, Joe Ciresi and Piedmont Environmental Council President, Christopher G. Miller, to discuss strengthening community access to information amid a surge in local governments signing nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) with data center companies.
Seventy percent of Americans oppose data center development in or near their communities. So, tech companies are routinely signing NDAs with local governments that obscure basic information about the company, the land acquisition, the source of energy (including whether the facility will be gas powered), and the facility’s demand for natural resources. Often, residents don’t even know about a data center’s development until construction has begun.
ReImagine Appalachia hosting an event to outline the information data center NDAs typically withhold, the questions residents should have ready for their representatives and for developers, and what pushback efforts are taking shape across the region.
