What we learned from climate infrastructure funding is that our communities are ready to build big; we just need a level playing field. Recent changes to federal funding pose the very real risk of pausing, undoing, and in some cases reversing a decade’s worth of innovative initiatives in workforce development, community revitalization, economic diversification, sustainable manufacturing, and American-made resilient energy sources. At the same time, new innovation and stronger connections made in the past few years have made Appalachia more ready than ever to meet big challenges.
