The Sustainable Manufacturing Summit convened Manufacturers, Community Development, and Economic Development stakeholders from across Pennsylvania to collaborate on advancing clean energy manufacturing initiatives and shaping the state’s sustainable economic future thanks to the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act. With a focus on crowd-sourcing information for the Pennsylvania Clean Energy Manufacturing Playbook, the summit served as a dynamic platform for sharing insights, best practices, and innovative solutions. Participants engaged in lively discussions and workshops to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis) in the state’s clean energy manufacturing landscape.
Beyond information gathering, the summit fostered meaningful connections among like-minded individuals, forging partnerships and generating momentum to drive progress in this critical sector. By harnessing the collective expertise and passion of participants, the summit laid the groundwork for collaborative action and transformative change in Pennsylvania’s clean energy manufacturing ecosystem.

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Registration and Networking
- Participants arrive, sign in, and connect over refreshments.
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Welcome and Introductions
- Opening remarks by PA Network Director, setting the stage for the day’s events.
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM: Keynote Address
- Tom Hucker from the Department of Energy Loan Programs Office (DOE LPO) will discuss the importance of clean energy manufacturing initiatives and opportunities for funding.
3:00 PM – 3:15 PM: Break
3:15 PM – 4:00 PM: Breakout Sessions: SWOT Analysis
- Participants will divide into smaller groups to conduct a SWOT analysis, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within Pennsylvania’s clean energy manufacturing sector. A notetaker will be assigned to each group.
4:00 PM – 4:30 PM: Playbook Breakdown
- Answering questions within our Clean Energy Manufacturing Playbook as a group.
4:30 PM – 5:00 PM: Closing Remarks and Wrap-Up
- Key takeaways and a summary of the day’s discussions will be presented, followed by closing remarks from summit organizers.
