Netroots Nation Conference

Thursday, July 11th- Saturday, July 13th

The 19th annual Netroots Nation conference was held on July 11-13 in Baltimore, the largest annual progressive gathering in the country!

If you’ve never been to Netroots, it’s a powerful event with opportunities to be inspired, learn and connect with some of the brightest minds in the movement.

There was more than 150 hours of content, including:

  • Engaging keynotes and panels
  • Cutting-edge training sessions
  • A vibrant Town Square with exhibitors and an attendee lounge
  • Film screenings, caucuses, wellness offerings, social events and more!

The agenda included conversations about how we can win up and down the ballot in November, panels about protecting democracy; and sessions digging into critical issues like abortion access, the economy, climate change and gun reform. There will also be lots of content highlighting organizing efforts in Baltimore.

Our Presentation:

Along with the Word Resources Institute, Data4Progress, the Black Appalachian Coalition, and The Nature Conservancy, we spoke on a panel titled, Building Community-First Climate Infrastructure.

DESCRIPTION:

As federal officials distribute funding from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for new climate infrastructure projects that range from growing sustainable manufacturing to upgrading electric transmission lines, community benefits plans (CBPs) and community benefits agreements (CBAs) offer opportunities for communities to benefit from the equitable and just deployment of much-needed climate infrastructure.

This panel will explore the challenge of building community- and justice- forward infrastructure, offering national and local insights into how policymakers, advocates, developers, and other stakeholders can successfully engage communities, deliver benefits, and build at the scale and standard necessary for an equitable energy transition.
