ReImagine Appalachia hosts expert speakers at two important events on climate infrastructure opportunities this week
—
One will focus on how solar energy can power small town infrastructure, save taxpayer dollars, and create good union jobs, the other on the Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment program, a critical clean energy policy
APPALACHIA — ReImagine Appalachia is hosting two important events this week that will explore new opportunities for the region through climate infrastructure opportunities:
Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13th at Noon ET: Solar Panels for the Sewage Plant
Athens, OH is saving taxpayer dollars and creating union jobs. From solar panels at the library field to canopies above parking lots at the city pool, Athens’ innovative large-scale solar project is a new model for Appalachian climate-friendly development. Hear more from Athens Mayor Steve Patterson and Deputy Service Safety Director Andrew Chik.
The transition from coal to clean energy risks devastating communities historically reliant on the jobs and economic activity brought by investment and dependence on fossil fuels. On Wednesday, the Department of Energy’s Loan Program Office will provide an overview for new opportunities for energy communities with a focus on the Energy Infrastructure Reinvestment (EIR) Program. Learn more from Jigar Shah, Director of DOE’s Loan Programs Officer, Jeremy Richardson, Manager of the Carbon-Free Electricity program at RMI, and Amanda Woodrum, Director at ReImagine Appalachia.
Members of the press are invited to join both events.
