The Farm Bill serves as a crucial avenue for Congress to shape the nation’s food and agriculture policies. It also presents an incredible opportunity to include investments in conservation practices that address a spectrum of issues, ranging from mitigating runoff pollution to carbon sequestration.

The Farm Bill is still delayed in Congress…but we must continue to advocate for a strong conservation-focused Farm Bill!

This is why we were excited to be joined by Senator Bob Casey for a virtual event held on Tuesday, March 12th from 12:15 – 1:15 pm. This webinar consisted of a comprehensive discussion with Senator Bob Casey on the intricate connection between conservation and agriculture in Pennsylvania. Together, we explored the impact of the Farm Bill on local conservation efforts, review climate-smart agricultural practices and programs, and gain insights into the latest developments on Capitol Hill.

The Farm Bill is an incredible opportunity to make a difference for PA farmers and communities at the federal level. However, in order to do this, we need to ensure that a new Farm Bill is complete before September 30, 2024 and that it encompasses pro-conservation priorities.

This legislation can provide the crucial support needed to ensure that our farmers, especially small-scale family-owned farms and farmers of color, are supported and incentivized to practice sustainable and pro-conservation farming techniques.
