Expanding Equitable Access to Green Jobs: A Framework for Collaborative Action

Monday, April 29, 2024

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act provide federal funds to mitigate the effects of climate change. With this funding, new jobs and careers are emerging. But with a projected shortage of trained workers in the coming years in green career occupations, who will have access to these new jobs?

The Urban Institute discussed how local communities can help workers from historically marginalized communities access the good jobs that are emerging. Our researchers have analyzed publicly available data to understand the quality of jobs and who holds them and conducted interviews with government agencies, intermediaries, nonprofits across selected cities, and national organizations to develop a framework to support work in this area.

The webinar featured a presentation of Urban research followed by practitioner panelists who shared their experiences in the field, promising strategies, and insights to inform program and policy implementation.
