On Tuesday, December 6th, we hosted a few online events for folks to learn how we can we work together to achieve our principles for equitable broadband implementation in Appalachia. We heard from people tackling this problem in each state to get a sense of some of challenges and opportunities.
11 -11:30 am – Morning Press call: Overview of Briefing + Principles for Equitable and Efficient Broadband Implementation
We held a top level overview of our principles for implementing broadband expansion in Appalachia. ReImagine Appalachia conducted dozens of interviews with key stakeholders to develop principles to ensure that the distribution of BEAD funds in each state maximizes the expansion of affordable, high-speed internet, equity, and the creation of good jobs. These principles were released and detailed at this event. These essential recommendations should guide state policy when planning federal broadband fund allocations to maximize the equity and impact of broadband roll out in the region.

3 pm – Maximizing Value: What We Need for Best-Practice Broadband Implementation
Later, we had in depth webinar discussion on how we can work together to achieve our principles for equitable broadband implementation in Appalachia. We heard from experts tackling this problem across Appalachia to get a sense of some of challenges and opportunities our region faces, and how we can work together to maximize the value of this historic investment to expand broadband in Appalachia.
