Thursday, June 26 at 12 pm ET – We released new research on how Appalachia can leverage the excitement around increased adoption of green building rating systems to transform the Ohio River Valley into a leader in the green building supply chain!

LEED and other green building certifications are becoming more commonplace as sustainable building is recognized as a priority for reducing carbon emissions. This recording shares opportunities that exist for Appalachian building material manufacturers to take advantage of the preference for locally sourced supplies within green building rating systems. Explore the ins and outs of green building certifications such as LEED,  how Appalachia can meet the rising demand for green building products, and which materials will be most advantageous to produce in the region.

This event is part of our Summer 2025 Manufacturing Series. an ongoing series of events sharing new research on opportunities within Appalachia’s manufacturing sector, from growing feedstocks to producing final products. This series of listening sessions will explore the specific opportunities to leverage the region’s historical assets for the new energy economy and create a hub for sustainable manufacturing. Appalachians should have a say in the work to keep opportunities in the region and support the creation of a 21st century economy that’s good for workers, communities, and the environment.
