ReImagine Appalachia sent the attached information to House and Senate leadership this week, urging Congress to include sufficient investments in the Appalachian region in any infrastructure package.
Included was a (1) letter signed by over 20 mayors and local executives supporting the Appalachian Climate Infrastructure Plan, and (2) resolution passed by over 100 local legislators supporting these deepened investments in clean manufacturing, sustainable transportation, grid modernization, and land reclamation. All of these investments must be supported by strong labor standards to ensure genuine opportunities for all workers across the region.
Today, we were joined by many of these officials for a press event where they talked more about their infrastructure priorities for their communities. Watch the press conference here.
We are highly encouraged to see momentum in Congress for significant federal investment in our nation’s infrastructure. If done right, these investments can help tackle climate change, and create prosperity and shared wealth in a 21st-century Appalachia!
