APPALACHIA – On Thursday, February 5, at noon, ReImagine Appalachia will host a webinar to release a new report, “Catching Heat: The Opportunities and Challenges of Using Waste Heat from Appalachian AI Data Centers.” The event will explore how waste heat from data centers can be captured and repurposed to heat buildings, greenhouses, and other facilities, while examining the policy frameworks needed to maximize community and economic benefits.
As AI-driven data centers rapidly expand across Appalachia, they bring significant electricity demands and waste heat emissions. This webinar will highlight innovative approaches to turn data center waste heat into a community asset, reduce carbon footprints, and support local economic development. The discussion will include successful pilot programs, policy recommendations, and strategies for ensuring data center development benefits local workers and residents.
