APPALACHIA – In the wake of recent devastating floods in the Ohio Valley and with climate change increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, communities across Appalachia need practical, sustainable solutions to reduce flood risk. Nature-based approaches offer effective, environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional infrastructure that can help communities become more resilient while providing additional ecological benefits.
ReImagine Appalachia will hold a virtual panel discussion on nature-based solutions to mitigate flood hazards in Appalachian communities. The event will showcase successful case studies from across the region and provide practical advice for community organizations and local officials interested in implementing nature-based hazard mitigation projects.
