ReImagine Appalachia Summer Internship Opportunities

ReImagine Appalachia is excited to announce new internship opportunities. 

You can be a part of this exciting campaign during this once in a lifetime opportunity to bring transformational funding to the region.

These part time remote positions will pay $15/hour unless supported through a university sponsored program. Non-students are also encouraged to apply. Hours and starting date negotiable.

Communications and Outreach Internship 

Position Description

  • Assist in writing communications materials including opinion editorials/guest columns, letters to the editor, web content, invitations, reports, event materials, etc.
  • Help make pitch calls to reporters to encourage attendance at press events and webinars
  • Update media contact information and/or lists
  • Research and form new ideas for web/social media content
  • Assist with management of virtual event day-of logistics (Zoom)
  • Monitor relevant news media, help identify advocacy opportunities and craft calls to action and related communications materials.
  • Create and curate social media content on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and LinkedIn
  • Draft, target, and send mass emails 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately
  • Ability to work well with others or independently
  • Highly responsible individual
  • Ability to be flexible and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in usage of Google Suite(including Google Sheets, Docs, Forms, Slides)
  • Excellent current events / news sense and political savvy.
  • Commitment to environmental justice and understanding race, class, gender, and other equity issues as part of our work.

Research Internship 

Position Description

  • Coordinate and research on issues affecting the climate and infrastructure.  Including but not limited to:
    • Community and labor standards 
    • New opportunities in federal funding for Appalachian communities 
    • New economic ventures including building the manufacturing sectors and renewable energy sector in Appalachia
  • Deliver written research summaries in a specified format, for example, a researched blog post on a current topic
  • Develop reports 
  • Assist in researching, writing and designing white papers and other written content
